LET'S FEED ICE-CREAM TO THE RATS By Edwin Stolk.

The work from visual artist Edwin Stolk is to say often suggestive, so also this time in the phone booth. With suggestion he tries to eliminate the possibility to make an object out of the work. Reason for this is that the artist believes that essential information gets lost by objectivity. Objectivity cannot and may not become the norm for our normal daily experience.

Edwin Stolk uses for the installation 'Let's feed ice-cream to the rats' daily materials. Materials which once had a certain value and now have become junk. The materials are to be recognized but at the same time this is an misunderstanding. The work opens itself for different interpretations and is so to say ambiguous. As an artist Edwin Stolk feels an urge to experience the ambiguous and overwhelming perception without limitation and to put this back in his work. Are you prepared for this confrontation?

LET'S FEED ICE-CREAM TO THE RATS By Edwin Stolk.

Het werk van beeldend kunstenaar Edwin Stolk is vaak suggestief van aard. Zo ook in De Telefooncel. Met de suggestie wil hij voorkomen dat enige objectivering van de toeschouwer slaagt. Een objectivering waardoor vaak veel essentiele informatie verloren gaat. Objectivering kan en mag volgens de kunstenaar daarom niet gelden als norm voor de gewone, dagelijkse ervaring.

Edwin Stolk gebruikt voor de installatie "Let's feed ice-cream to the rats" veel alledaagse materialen. Materialen die eens waardevol waren, maar we nu afval noemen. De materialen worden herkend, maar deze herkenning is tegelijkertijd een misverstand. Het werk stelt zich open voor verschillende interpretaties en is in die zin wisselvallig van aard. Edwin Stolk ziet het als zijn taak om als kunstenaar de veelheid en de wisselvalligheid van de waarneming te ondergaan zonder begrenzing. En om u er terug mee te confronteren. Durft u deze confrontatie aan?
